Mornings were a treat at the garden restaurant, surrounded by the melodious songs of birds and the soothing sounds of waterfalls. The breakfast buffet was an abundance of delights, and the option to order hot savory and sweet dishes from the menu made it even more special. It was a tranquil start to the day, preparing me for the adventures that awaited.
An Evening of Enchantment: The Stravinskij Bar
The heart of the hotel lies in its beautiful courtyard, a secret garden that draws locals and guests alike for a delightful aperitivo experience. This enchanting space creates a wonderful cosmopolitan and buzzing atmosphere, adding to the hotel’s allure. As the sun dipped below the horizon on my second day at the hotel, I made my way to the Stravinskij Bar for an aperitivo experience that was nothing short of magical. The live piano music set a soothing ambiance as I savored peach Bellini and limoncello cocktails, a respite from the warm Roman days. The small bites, including a burger paired with luscious stracciatella cheese, were simply divine.
A Serene Oasis: The Terraced Gardens
One of the standout features of this property is undoubtedly the stunning terraced gardens, earning it the moniker “paradise on earth” from French poet Jean Cocteau, as I mentioned before. The 18th-century gardens, meticulously preserved and complemented by contemporary chic design, provided a serene oasis amidst the bustling city.

The hydro pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish steam bath, and gym provided a range of options to unwind and recharge. The treatment rooms featuring Irene Forte’s handmade skincare products add an extra touch of luxury to their spa experience.

The hotel’s location between the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps is a dream for both culture vultures and shopaholics. With easy access to Rome’s major attractions and historical sites, exploring the city’s rich heritage was a breeze. And after a day of sightseeing, returning to the comfort of Hotel de Russie was a true pleasure. Beyond the hotel’s walls, Rome’s iconic attractions were within easy reach. Piazza di Spagna and the Trevi Fountain were a leisurely stroll from the hotel, allowing me to immerse myself in the city’s splendor and reaching these iconic landmarks quite early in the morning before the crowds.
