Arrival

When you arrive on the ground floor, the staff is already ready to help you with the luggage and take it straight to your room while you check-in on the lobby (35th floor). In the reception, they receive you quite warmly trying to always make you feel welcome at the hotel. In my personal experience at Mandarin Oriental, a member of the team escorted me to my room and everything was perfect when I arrived with a welcome letter and a press release with information about the property. Just a few minutes later, they arrived with my luggage and complementary amenities offered by the hotel. The team of staff is also quite helpful and ready to kindly assist the guests with information, travel tips, tickets, reservations in the best restaurants of Manhattan, etc. They will certainly do their best to ensure you have a fantastic stay in the city!

 

 

Facilities

The spa is located on the floors 35 and 36 and has been designed to reflect the exceptional levels of attention and standards of service intrinsic to Mandarin Oriental worldwide. It offers many special treatments that are perfect for someone who wishes to relax! The indoor swimming pool and the gym are located on the 36th floor. It’s easily possible to spend hours in the pool enjoying breathtaking views of New York through its floor-to-ceiling glass windows!

 

Asiate

Asiate is Mandarin Oriental’s signature restaurant which is located on the same floor of the lobby. Though New York is a city renowned for cuisine, the restaurant is a hit with both guests and locals alike. It has a pretty stylish décor and offers a menu with modern American cuisine. The Tasting Menu is a great option to experience the highlights of Asiate. The dishes look pretty artistic with their have beautiful visual presentations. Almond Dacquoise, a white chocolate mousse with Almond praline, must absolutely not be missed for dessert!

 

Accommodations

The rooms and suites are quite spacious and have floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing 360º views of the northern Manhattan skyline, the Hudson River and Central Park. The décor is quite contemporary and stylish!  When you come back to the hotel at night, you find everything perfectly organized in your room and a paper over your bed indicating how the weather is going to be in the next day and three suggestions of how you can spend your time in New York in the upcoming day. In the morning, a daily newspaper is delivered to your room.

 

 

 

Considerations

This hotel is perfect for people who prefer to stay close to the Central Park. You just get out of the hotel and are already there! It’s also a great option for people who are travelling for shopping. It’s only a few blocks from famous shopping areas of Manhattan like the 5th Avenue and Times Square! Mandarin Oriental and The Shops of The Shops at Columbus Circle are located side by side which makes your life much easier if you’re at the hotel and needs to buy something. The hotel also offers guests an exclusive third floor lobby that gives them direct access to it. The rooms are quite spacious and, as it’s expected from a MO property, the service is impeccable!
