Galeries Lafayette

Galeries Lafayette, Printemps and Le Bon Marché are the most important department stores in Paris. Galeries Lafayette is the most touristic one. Actually, it’s already considered the second top attraction in the city after the Eiffel Tower. The decoration inside the department store and its windows are really stunning. Galeries Lafayette has three buildings. The main building has a magnificent stained-glass dome in Byzantine style that is over a century old (its construction finished in 1912). Under the dome in the main store, you can see the perfumes and cosmetics department. This main building also houses designer collections, “young fashion” and children’s fashion, jewelry and accessories, toys, books, music, and electronics. The Lafayette Marriage Boutique is also located there. On the top floor, you can pick up interesting Parisian souvenirs. You’ll also find a restaurant and terrace provide stunning views on the same floor. If you’re not interested in shopping, you should go there at least for the experience. In this building, it’s also a great idea to take a break to sip a glass of champagne at the Bar à Bulles at the top of the first-floor escalator. Then, you can get in the other building through a covered passageway that connects Lafayette Homme to the Coupole and features men’s fashion and accessories, as well as a gourmet food shop , Lafayette Gourmet. Lafayette Maison across the street features the latest in home furnishings. If you don’t have much time to visit the three buildings, go only to the main one to see the amazing architecture of the place.
